We hand build all our yurts from the highest quality materials which we buy in Portugal supporting the Portuguese economy wherever possible. All our yurts have a 10 year guarantee on the wooden structure which uses beech for the lattice, Nordic pine for the rafters and larch for the central ring with the doors made from either Brazilian hardwood or chestnut and the windows and shutters made from pine. We treat all the wood we use with insecticide and then natural preservative oils. Our yurts are totally self supporting without any central columns or supports giving a very usable internal space. We heat weld our outer covers for strength and they have a 10 year UV resistance guarantee and never rot or get mildew and need no further treatments. It's the only cover designed to withstand all the weather Portugal gets!
Our yurts have either aluminium or UPVC double glazed windows in either white or wood colour with glass and shutters, a choice of door styles including double doors suitable for wheelchairs and all include modern insulation, they all have an opening clear domed skylight with opening stick supplied and delivery and erection throughout Portugal and are designed for year round living. Additional windows or doors can be ordered and all are customisable, with your choice where the doors and windows are sited and the colour and choice of door style.
We include delivery and erection at your land and can also make a wooden base which if we make it has a 15 year guarantee or we can give you our base plans for you to make the base yourselves. We offer 5 m, 6.1 m, 7.3 m or 24ft and 9.1m or 30ft yurts.
All of the yurts have walls of 2 m high and the central ring at 3.5 m without any supports or columns which gives you all the space inside to use as you wish. A 5 m yurt has 20 square meters of internal floorspace a 6.1 m has 30 square meters and the 24 foot 7.3m yurt has 42 square meters of internal floorspace and the 9.1m has 64 square meters of totally usable internal floorspace all with space to put in a mezzanine level if you wish.
We offer easy payment plans with an initial deposit guaranteeing when your yurt/s will be delivered and the remaining balance paid in installments of your choice we only ask the full amount to be paid on/by delivery day.

We found Sarah and Vladimir through a Pure Portugal Facebook thread about yurts and contacted Sarah directly. She was very prompt in her response, shared a photo of their model yurt, and explained the options and pricing. We were impressed with the couple’s dedication to using as many local and sustainable materials as possible, from Portuguese cork flooring and insulation to lovingly crafted wooden doors, lattices, rafters and windows. After some deliberation and further discussion (throughout which Sarah patiently addressed all of our many concerns and questions!), we decided to order a larger size than theirstandard model, with a half-glass door, window and skylight. Sarah and Vladimir were open to custom building the yurt to our specifications, which really made us feel as if we were getting a special and unique structure.
The level of communication throughout the entire process was excellent. Sarah updated us with the latest progress and photos as each component of the yurt was completed, and worked with us to plan a time for delivery and installationthat met our tight schedules. The yurt is now up, and wecan say the end result is truly beautiful. The craftsmanship, particularly on the door and window, is exceptional (and, frankly, much nicer than many “permanent” homes!). This is off-grid housing of the highest quality— it is a special and unique structure, indeed.
